Kitesurfing and sailing on Sardinia
From the van to the plane. Last year I was on the road with my van in Sardinia. Now I'm here again, but a whole new experience is waiting for me: A week kitecruise in the most beautiful bays of Sardinia. Far away from crowded beaches.
Summary
ON THE WAY TO THE KITECRUISE
THE SARDINIA CRUISE STARTS NEAR OLBIA
A different kind of vacation. Normally I drive with my van through the area. Explore beautiful places, preferably by the sea and am on my own. This vacation should be a little different:
A few of us had already connected via WhatsApp. With Anne I met in Hamburg at the airport, because we could book ourselves on the same flight.
After checking in, we were chatted up by a girl. "Hey, are you guys flying to Sardinia too?" Two girls in dryropes at the same time at the airport were probably not to be overlooked and let Nina suspect that we had the same goal.
Thus we were now to third on tour. From Hamburg, via Frankfurt to Olbia. There we met the next, Miri. Now we were already four. The other Kitecruise guests had other flight times. We should meet them later on the catamaran.
From here it was another half hour by car to the bay where the "Kitevoyager" was already waiting for us.
We started with a "get together" and moved into our cabin with one other cruise participant each. During dinner in a traditional Sardinian pizzeria we had the opportunity to get to know each other over a glass of vino. All in all, I would say: a successful arrival.
- Kite2Sail Girlscruise = One week with 8 girls plus crew sailing along the coasts of Sardinia and visiting the most beautiful kitespots.

A DAY ON THE CATAMARAN
LET'S GO: RAISE THE SAILS IN THE MARINA - KITE & SAILING ADVENTURES AR
Early the next morning, mooring and ropes are released from the jetty and the catamaran sets sail. An exciting moment. We head north, passing the beautiful panorama of the Costa Smeralda. The destination is the first kite spot. In the middle of a beautiful lagoon we set anchor. Our platforms are lowered into the water and off we go. Here is our first kitespot and our mooring for the next night.
The crystal blue water and the wind makes a few girls jump into their wetsuits immediately. The kites are set up and off we go with the first session.

PRIVATE KITESPOTS IN THE NORTHEAST OF SARDINIA
NO CROWDED BEACHES, WE KITE ON THE CATAMARAN
The fantastic thing is that we virtually have our own kite spot and do not cavort with the other kiters in front of the beaches.
We launch the kites directly from the catamaran and can thus cruise around our kitevoyager in the middle of the bay. So we have enough space to learn new things and the dinghy (our own rescue boat) makes sure that even the less safe riders get back on board.
At noon, when everyone is back on the catamaran, Lea conjures up delicious pasta on the table. You can tell that she's been around a lot, because she serves us a wide variety of dishes every day, which are completely new to me, but always super tasty.
In the afternoon, some of us chill out on deck while another group heads for a nearby beach with the dinghy to explore the area a bit. Of course there are also girls who don't miss a second kite session.
In the evening a BBQ is on the agenda. We already have everything on board and prepare delicious salads together. In a nice atmosphere we sit together with cool drinks and let the day pass in review. We watch the last kiters on the water and later have a fantastic view of the sunset.
At our evening skipper meeting we discuss the next day. How is the wind forecast, in which direction do we leave and what is the rough plan for the next day. The goal is to head for a new spot every day.

NO-WIND-ACTIVITIES FOR KITERSv
NO WIND FOR KITING? NO PROBLEM!
If there is not enough wind for kiting, we have some alternatives. These included yoga (on the specially made platforms), snorkeling in the piscinas of Budelli, wakeboarding or slider fun with the 40 hp dinghy. This also allowed us to take shore excursions to explore beautiful bays or small harbor towns and enjoy the Italian aperitivo culture.
We usually decide on an activity together. However, if you want some time to yourself, you can cozy up in the large beanbags on deck to read a book or just relax and sunbathe.

MY CONCLUSION TO THE ONE WEEK KITECRUISE
A WEEK KITECRUISE. A GOOD IDEA?
This Kiten2Sail week on the coast of Sardinia was definitely worth an experience that I would not want to miss.
And who knows, maybe I will do another kitecruise at some other beautiful place on earth. In any case, I will see one or the other of our crew again. To kite in Northern Germany or somewhere else in the world.
Thanks for the great week and this new experience.
- Despite our daily routine, every day was different.
- Due to the catamaran you can reach deserted and beautiful kitespots.
- You see the island from a completely different side - in the truest sense of the word.
- You get an insight into the sport of sailing.
- You get to know new people and quickly grow together as a unit.
