Kite Season
Brazil is known for its strong and constant wind, but Tatajuba offers even more than the other kitesurfing areas around Brazil.
Constant side onshore wind with 99% wind probability blows from July to February. In July, August and February, you can expect 17-23 knots in Tatajuba and only a few wind-free days. In high season you can also expect a few more knots in Tatajuba compared to other spots. Around 30 knots plus is the norm kitesurfers expect here!
The small village of Tatajuba is located between Jericoacoara (Jeri for short) and Camocim, right at the mouth of a river. There are no tarmac roads in this village; you walk on fine sand, surrounded by palm trees, friendly locals and unique nature. Deep red sunsets and probably the strongest wind in Brazil await you, and anyone who knew and loved Cumbuco as a small, remote fishing village will more than appreciate this spot.
The Tatajuba kitesurfing spot is a river mouth where the incoming and outgoing water creates a beautiful shallow water area ideal for freestyle or learning to kite. The open sea beyond is also great for beginners thanks to its vastness and the site's safe onshore wind. There is endless space here from the first few metres on the board, to cruising further or for practising new moves. Small kicker waves promise great fun on the directional surfboard.
Tatajuba offers kiters endless possibilities. If you like, you can book a trip to a freshwater lagoon just 4 kilometres away, or discover the coast of Brazil on endless downwinders. Our beach buggy tours are a must and you can easily get to nearby Jericoacoara for shopping or partying!

OSVALDO, STATION MANAGER
“Tatajuba is the strong wind, the warm water, is tranquility, is kitesurfing, it's a simplicity of walking barefoot in the sand to see the sunset, is the good people who live here and make this village a more than special place. Sipping cool caipirinhas and eating some fresh oysters after a full day of kitesurfing makes it even more perfect”.Kitespots & Kiteschool
Kitespots

Thanks to the versatility and vastness of the sea spot, there is plenty of space on the water and even absolute pros can get their money's worth. Tatajuba is a complete dream spot for every level of kiter, and the best thing is that you can leave your wetsuit at home as the water temperature is 28° C.

OUR POUSADAS: PORTAL DO VENTO & CASA DE PRAIA
The Portal do Vento is our green oasis. You have the choice between different types of accommodation - from stilt houses, known as palafitas, to small bungalows or kite houses. In addition to like-minded people, you will encounter small monkeys, hummingbirds and lizards in the trees. The breakfast buffet for all our guests and our Brazilian BBQ take place here. The pool invites you to cool off and relax, and in the evenings there are occasional pool parties.
The Casa de Praia is our new modern accommodation right at the spot and each room has a balcony or terrace. At high tide, you can go straight out onto the water 'from bed to board" as the shore is just a few steps away. From our four SeaView rooms you have the perfect view of the lagoon. The outdoor area invites you to sunbathe with a view of the sea and the lagoon and you can always cool off in the small pool.
Food
Breakfast is included for all our guests and you start the day with an extensive breakfast buffet. You get home-baked bread, muesli, freshly squeezed juices, tropical fruit, cakes, freshly prepared eggs according to your wishes and daily variations. Start the day together with a fresh coffee.
At our weekly churrasco, the Brazilian version of the BBQ (included for KiteWorldWide guests), you will get to know the food culture and enjoy great evenings with the community and the best caipis in town.
Other Activities Besides Kitesurfing (not included in package price)
If you need a change from the water and kitesurfing, you can race through the huge dunes of Funil on a beach buggy. Real extreme sports enthusiasts can also try sandboarding in the dunes.
Tatajuba is located between the town of Jericoacoara (30 km away), known for its kitesurfing and windsurfing, and the fishing village of Camocim (25 km away). You can reach these two places by hiring a beach buggy.
Jericoacoara
Jericoacoara or Jeri, as it is abbreviated by insiders, is known for its relaxed atmosphere and exuberant nightlife. At night, it's time to hit the bars around midnight and if you can hold out, you can party all night long. Although Jeri only consists of four sandy streets, there are a surprising number of restaurants, pousadas and small, cosy shops.
Active holidaymakers have plenty of opportunities to let off steam in Jeri. In addition to kitesurfing, you can learn the Brazilian martial art of capoeira on the beach, go sandboarding in the dunes or try your luck on horseback.
Camocim
Camocim is located at the mouth of the Rio Coreaú, next to the border with the "land of opportunity" Piaui. There is a post office, banks, hospitals, shops, a bus station and many different hotels and pousadas. The market and village life are definitely worth a visit!

For budget travellers, solo travellers and adventure seekers, there is also the option of taking the bus from Fortaleza to Jijoca, Jericoacoara or Comocim. From there, we can organise a transfer by beach buggy. This option takes a little longer, but is a lot cheaper. We are happy to help with the organisation.
