Kite Season
Marhaba (welcome!) to the Bianca Guest House Riad and its unique Morrocan atmosphere. Our Essaouira destination offers a culturally rich kitesurfing holiday experience that’s different to the more usual short-haul trips from Europe. It’s perfect for anyone who’d like to experience something different.
Famously, Jimi Hendrix partied it up in Essaouira and was inspired to write ‘Castle made of Sand’, and the area is also historically known for surfing. The epic wave spot ‘Moulay’ became popular when an old windsurfing movie disclosed its Morrocan secret, and the first-ever kitesurfing competition is also said to have taken place on the Essaouira beach in 1997. Rumour has it that even Pete Cabrinha and the Wipikas were there too!
We have a full set up in Essaouira for you with various packages on offer where you’ll get to live together with other guests in laid back Morrocan style. We even have a KiteWorldWide Guide on site for you to relax and enjoy all that’s on offer without needing to worry.
In Essaouira, you’ll be rewarded with reliable wind, an unbelievably long sandy beach without any obstacles or rocks, and an awesome kitesurf school with its friendly team. On top of that, you’ll be able to visit around half a dozen other spots for varying abilities all within 30 minutes. Experience Mediterranean-Arabian flair, great food and excellent accommodation all at affordable prices.
In the winter season, Essaouira becomes a wave paradise for kite surfers with a bit of experience, and there’s a 100-150m waist-deep area just before the swell. During the summertime the swell gets a bit smaller but the wind picks up a lot more. You never have to worry about not having enough wind in Essaouira!
Besides kitesurfing, Essaouira has a lot to offer from its beautiful Medina and the smell of spices and thuya wood, to that the sound of drums from the gorgeous souvenir shops and the hustle and bustle of the market… The Medina is full of colour and character! Some even say Essaouira is the most picture-perfect quaint medina in Morocco! Best of all, there are no cars at all to bother you!
See you there!

Anas, Center Manager
"Essaouira is my home town, the place where I was born, for me it is about the mix; the endless beach which gives me the space and freedom to disconnect whether I am kiting or surfing, then the vibrant old medina that reminds me of my heritage and culture."Kitespot & Kiteschool
The Essaouira bay is a great destination for everyone, beginners and advanced kitesurfers alike! The huge kitable area is 4 km long and up to 800 m wide with a crescent-shaped sandy beach. From April to October, the strong, dependable cross-shore winds blow from the right and are strengthened by thermal effects, accompanied by reduced swell and smaller waves.
We partner with a well known kitesurf centre right at the beach run by Sara (from the UK) and her Morrocan husband Nasser. Having worked for a well-known kite school chain in different destinations for over a decade, Nasser eventually turned his experience to his home country where he decided to open his own kite centre.
COURSES/KITEGEAR
The centre is VDWS certified and complies to all international standards. Lessons are mostly in English, but we also have French, Spanish and German-speaking instructors throughout the high season.
Duotone equipment is available from the current season to help you progress quickly. For Kite Storage in Essaouira we have lockable lockers as well as full use of the facilities in our centres from showers, changing room, as well as a launch and landing and boat rescue (hopefully not required)

BIANCA GUEST HOUSE RIAD & RIAD AL ZAHIA
Before we go into more detail, we would like to explain what a ‘Riad’ is as you’ll discover it’s quite unique. A Riad is an old Moroccan townhouse where the wealthy used to live and is based around the principle of having an open space in the middle with the rooms around the courtyard letting a lot of light enter the house.
Riads come in different price categories and quality, but the houses we work with have all been beautifully remodelled in the last few years. Our Riads will entice you with their stunning, artistic details and the courtyard.
All of the Riads are inside the Medina, the historic part of Essaouira, and only a few minutes from the beach. You can either take a 30 min walk from there to the kitesurf school or grab a taxi for 8 Dirham (0.80 EUR).
CATERING
In Essaouira, breakfast is already included in your package. Breakfast is French style, meaning we don’t serve sausages or cold meats, but instead there’s excellent coffee, tea, fresh juice, as well as, pastries, fresh baguette and eggs.
In the evening, you can easily discover Moroccan cuisine in one of the restaurants. There are plenty of restaurants in the old town, from grills and traditional restaurants to more exclusive restaurants.
