Kite Season
Fuerteventura has a nice long wind season stretching from March through to the end of November, but you can also score some great days through the winter months of December & January. With an average temperature of 20 degrees and more than 20 kiteable days per month, it makes it a great winter escape.
Matas Bay itself is an amazing flat water spot that doesn’t depend on the tide, meaning you can kite all day long! There are also numerous wave spots dotted around the island, making it an exciting destination for more advanced wave riders and kiters.
The Canary Islands are blessed with plenty of natural beauty, spectacular landscapes and a thrilling range of activities. Fuerteventura has many spectacular places to visit including its natural pools or the Jurrasic period caves at Ajuy. Hike one of Fuerte’s many coastal trails or volcanic paths to stunning viewpoints, or surf some of the best waves in Europe. There’s also a zoo, sailing trips, scuba diving, jeep safaris, aqua parks or even wine tasting – we’re sure you won’t get bored!

Kitespot & Kiteschool
In winter and summer, Fuerteventura has a light to moderate northeast trade wind. The local thermals reinforce the jet of wind they bring making the island a unique kiting spot. In winter, Fuerteventura offers an average monthly temperature of over 20°C and just as many windy days, making it an ideal destination for Europeans who like to spend the winter in warmth!
Leave your thick wetsuits at home as in the summer only boardshorts or a bikini is needed. In winter, you’ll likely need a 3/2mm wetsuit, but we recommend neoprene shoes as depending on the time of the year, there can be a lot of small stones at the beach or in the water.
On a rare windless day, we’ve included a couple of no-wind activities in your kite package. Try your balance on a SUP board, grab a kayak, or go for a snorkel-excursion in the azure blue waters.
