Kite Season

01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12

Not bookable in the winter season 2024/25. We will keep you posted.
The beautiful island of Zanzibar is located in the Indian Ocean. It is famous for its beautiful beaches with crystal-clear, turquoise water. Our spot has shallow water and is perfect for beginner kiters. Because of the two different seasons, you can either surf under the sun in the summer or check out this spot in the winter when it’s cold and dark back home.

We found the perfect spot and accommodation for your kitesurf holiday at Zanzibars east coast in Jambiani. Right at the huge shallow water lagoon in Jambiani, the Red Monkey Beach Lodge is ready for your KiteWorldWide kiting trip. It is located directly at the water’s edge and so you always have a view of the turquoise blue water of the Indian Ocean. It seems as if the scenery was taken from a storybook!

The kitespot is right in front of the lodge. Because of a 2km long sandbank we have a huge lagoon with shallow water which is perfect for instructions and trainings but also a dream for freestyle.

Since June 2012, there is a KiteWorldWide owned, VDWS licensed kitesurf school on Zanzibar, Jambiani, with multilingual instructors and new gear from CORE Kiteboarding.

The kite seasons are from June till September and from December till March. The wind direction is always sideshore.

This small, amazing island in front of the east coast of Tanzania does not only have beautiful beaches and coasts, but also beautiful dive sites and lots of alternative activities to do.
Zanzibar is also famous for its huge variety of spices which gave Zanzibar the nickname: “Spice island”.

The beautiful historic centre of Zanzibars capital, Stone Town is also worth a visit. Freddy Mercurys home town is beautifully laid out with tiny alleys and coral-stone made colonial houses. There are some great little shops and fun bars to hang out in.

What you get

"For me, Zanzibar is the pearl of East Africa. Our kite lodge, with its close connection to the Red Monkey Beach Lodge, offers the best conditions for learning kitesurfing and practising your tricks. For music lovers, there is authentic life music every Monday directly at the lodge. In addition, the lush fauna and flora make you really curious to discover the island."

Kitespots & Kiteschool

This exclusive kitesurf spot is located nearby the hotel at the east coast of Zanzibar in Jambiani. From June to September and from December until March this spot provides perfect conditions for beginners, advanced riders and freestylers.

Here, a 2 km long sandbank forms a large shallow water lagoon, a perfect place for our lessons and trainings. We use equipment from CORE Kiteboarding and ION gear. The VDWS licensed instructors and our partner school, KiteWorldWide Center Zanzibar / Jambiani speaks English German and French.
Only 5 km north of your “homespot” you will find the popular Spot: Pajé. The Water is flat and shallow. During the summer advanced kiters are able to do a downwinder to Pajé.

The winter kitesurf season lasts from December till March. During the summer you can kitesurf from June until end of September.
This spot is strongly regulated by tides, but it is also possible to kitesurf under low tide conditions after a short walk on the beach. During high tide launching the kite can be more difficult, that’s why we recommend kiting during high tide only for advanced kiters.

Because of small solitary corals it’s recommended to wear neoprene surf shoes.

Our equipment is always up to date with kites from Core and Eleveight.

The spot on this wonderful beach is right in front of the Red Monkey Lodge, where our school is located.

Zanzibar’s east coast depends on the tides, which means that the way to the water may be a bit further at low tide. But to visit the beach at low tide is definitely a must do!
The corals, which provide this beautiful clear water, also offer living space for sea urchins and other sea dwellers in some places. Our team knows where more or less of them live. The team also knows where the fishermen – a little further away – have positioned their fishing nets. You will be instructed accordingly on site.
At the reef further out runs a top wave which can not only be kited but also surfed.
Foiling is also possible at this spot!
