Kitesurfing in Kenya - the lodge right on the spot

Mwazaro Beach Lodge, with 22 African-style accommodations, was taken over by a former KiteWorldWide guest and completely renovated last year. Custom furniture and thoughtful details turn the entire lodge into a wonderful place for a relaxed kite holiday in beautiful surroundings. All bungalows and rooms have either sea or mangrove views and sit directly on the kite spot.
Β The hotel’s restaurant focuses on fresh, seasonal, local cuisine that meets the highest standards. Breakfast and dinner are included. All dishes are prepared with tasty market vegetables and often local, freshly caught fish and seafood.

The kite spot in Kenya - flat water as far as the eye can see

Mwazaro impresses with an approx. 15 kmΒ² flat-water spot that promises great fun and progress for beginners, intermediates, and pros. The spot excites us with its versatility. Depending on tides and range, different sandbanks, flat-water lanes, and small swell waves form, giving all kitersβ€”also on downwinders and short tripsβ€”tons of fun on the water.

Β In season from mid-December to mid-March, steady wind comes from the north/northeast.Β That means you always have side-onshore wind. Air temps are aroundΒ 30Β°CΒ and in 25Β°C warm water you can kite all season without a wetsuit. On site we have current gear from Core and EleveightΒ for you.

Interview with our station manager Dustin in Kenya

Dustin, tell us... you’re now in Kenya for KiteWorldWide for the second year in a row.

What do you like most about our destination in Kenya? It’s not just learning to kite in Kenya that draws me here. The daily, steady wind is a dream. But what really moves me are the people. They’re very friendly, never stressed, and always smiling. This inner calm is contagious. And then you arrive, overwhelmed by nature and the beauty of the lodgeβ€”this is a very special kite holiday in Kenya.

How is the spot and what can you say about the wind? The wind here is truly impressive. It kicks in every day between 10:00 and 11:00 and stays stable into the night. I’ve only seen a wind profile like this in Brazil. Our lagoon is huge and exclusive to our guests, as we have the only launch and landing area. The special part? The lagoon is framed by breathtaking mangroves.

Which levels would you recommend Kenya for? Kenya is a paradise for all levels. Thanks to tides, beginners have a vast standing area, making learning to kite a breeze. Pros also get their money’s worth. A bit farther out is a reef that creates perfect waves for wave riders. Insider tip: With the right tide, there’s a small island far out where we like to start a downwinder. So whether beginner or pro, this spot has something for everyone.

I’m already excited for my time here. Wind, warm water, exquisite food, stunning nature, and wildlifeβ€”this combo is unbeatable. Every time, it’s an unforgettable kite holiday in Kenya.
