“What makes Tatajuba special is the warmth, the blue skies, the wind that shows up reliably every day, the warm water, the friendly people — and this unique vibe. Everything is in perfect balance: nature, kiting, community. You just have to experience it yourself.”

02. You grew up here — how has Tatajuba changed, and what thankfully stayed the same?

“Tatajuba has really changed over the last six, seven years — more dining options, nice bars, things like that. But what’s stayed the same are the friendly people and the community feel. Everyone is connected; everyone knows each other. And the fishermen’s life is still very alive — you can head out early, buy fresh fish straight from the boat, and cook it yourself. That simple life still exists here, and I hope it stays that way.”

03. What makes the freshwater lagoon and the downwinders so special?

“The downwinders here are the absolute highlight for me. We offer different routes — from 5 to 23 kilometers — with flatwater, waves, and everything in between along the way. From VDWS Level 5 you can join, and it doesn’t matter if it’s your first downwinder or your hundredth — it’s always exciting and fresh. And if conditions in Tatajuba change, it’s worth heading to Lagoa Torta — a stunning freshwater lagoon among the sand dunes where the water doesn’t burn your eyes and your kite gear ends up fresh and clean. A real bonus.”

04. What would you say to someone thinking about booking Brazil — but still hesitating?

“If you’re unsure — just come. Every morning starts with the freshest fruits you’ve ever had, a good breakfast, maybe some yoga. Then the wind kicks in around 11 am and doesn’t stop until sunset. After your session there’s an açaí bowl; you’ll wrap up the evening with a Caipirinha. Tatajuba is a small place, but it’s full of Brazilian culture, fresh fish, the famous picanha — and wind every single day. You won’t regret it.”

Our downwinders are the heart of every Tatajuba trip. From the Kite Center you’ll cruise along endless beaches — choose 10, 13, or 23 kilometers. Along the way you’ll find flatwater, small waves, and everything in between.

If ocean conditions shift, it’s worth detouring to Lagoa Torta — a beautiful freshwater lagoon among the dunes where the water doesn’t sting your eyes and your gear ends up fresh and clean. Here too, our team supports the downwinder on the water and with a support vehicle behind you. A real bonus — and for many, the highlight of the whole trip.

Pick between our modern Casa de Praia right on the beach and the green oasis Portal do Vento — just 150 m apart. Either way: we kick off together at the generous breakfast buffet, and chill in the large pool area or turn it into the occasional pool party.

In the SeaView rooms of Casa de Praia your first morning view is the kitespot — at high tide the water practically touches the property. A true dream for kite fans. Cool off post-session in the small pool with spot view and ease into the evening.

Portal do Vento · The green oasis

Portal do Vento is a dream for nature lovers. Stay amid lush greenery, spot little monkeys and geckos all day, and choose between bungalows and stilt houses with wonderful views. Traveling as a group? Stay together in the Kitehouse like a shared flat — arrive together, head out together.

Tatajuba is more than just wind. Start your morning with yoga and an açaí bowl, or race a buggy over the dunes, or take a trip to lively Jericoacoara. When the kites are packed in the evening, part two begins: our weekly BBQ included, chilled Caipirinhas, the odd pool party, and water stories late into the night.
