Kiting on Kos with a child – easier than you think
We chose Kos, specifically Mastichari. A spot that immediately gives you that relaxed vibe you want for a holiday with a baby. A wide beach, plenty of space for gear, stroller, and shade – plus consistently good wind that instantly made us feel the trip was worth it.
Summary
Mastichari – entspannter Kite-Spot mit perfekten Bedingungen für Familien - CHANGE ME!
Mastichari – relaxed kite spot with perfect conditions for families
Everyday life with a baby on Kos – surprisingly easy
We honestly expected more chaos. Constantly hunting for the next supermarket, compromising on baby food, that low-level travel-with-toddler stress. None of it happened. Supplies on the island are better than expected – small markets within walking distance, the essentials always somehow at hand. Only with baby food do you notice you’re in Greece: fish and meat dominate the shelves; you won’t find the exact same German supermarket range. But that quickly felt normal – and in the end it’s part of the travel vibe, like sand in your shoes and wind in your hair.
Marmari als ruhige Ergänzung - CHANGE ME!
Marmari as a quiet complement
We also spent a few days in Marmari. The spot is close, yet the vibe is different – calmer, fewer people. No crowded beaches, no jostling on the water, just space. With a baby, that was the decisive factor: no pressure, nothing that had to perform. Simply arrive, set up the kite bar or skip it, and see what the day brings. Those are often the days you remember longest.
Kleine Pausen, die den Unterschied machen - CHANGE ME!
Small breaks that make a big difference
One of the trip’s most unexpected perks: a public pool right by our accommodation. Sounds like a side note – but for windless afternoons and mini breaks between sessions, it was gold. The deal is simple: order something and the pool is yours. A drink, a shady spot, sometimes football in the background. For us, the perfect reset button between sessions – and for the little traveler, the highlight of the afternoon.
Unser Tagesrhythmus – so einfach wie möglich - CHANGE ME!
Our daily rhythm – as simple as possible
The daily plan came together fast because it wasn’t really a plan. One goes kiting, the other stays with the baby on the beach or at the accommodation. Then we switch – or not, depending on wind, mood, and nap times. No fixed schedule, no expectations to meet. That’s the key for a trip like this: once you stop trying to coordinate everything perfectly, it works amazingly well. The wind arrives, the session happens – and somehow it all fits when you let it.
Essen auf Kos – entspannt und richtig gut - CHANGE ME!
Food on Kos – relaxed and really good
And between us… in a bustling Greek restaurant, babies sleep best.
Fazit – Kos funktioniert auch mit Baby - CHANGE ME!
Conclusion – Kos works even with a baby
And that’s what counts: plenty of time on the water, without feeling you’re missing out.
